First start with the waves.Start from one corner and do the chain Stitch in waves. Make sure the chain are in equal size and do not twist.Once the wave is completed let’s try it in shapes like circle, square and tear drop shape(thilagam).Circle is the most commonly used shape. Pratice the chain Stitch in circle shape which will help you with the curves and bends when doing a design.Sqaure helps you to learn how to end the edges sharply. This will help you to give a perfect shape while doing a design.Tear drop or the thilagam shape is again the most commonly used shape for Lotus flowers, leaves and many other designs. Practising chain stich in this shape helps you to learn how to end the edge sharply. You need to start from one corner and continue the chain Stitch and complete it in the same chain started and end with knot. This will give you the sharp edge and perfect shape.Once completed with all three shapes you can try 2-3 shapes of your own creativity like heart, hexagon and more.Check out the activity for today’s class. Once completed with wave and the shapes start with spiral, sqare and teardrop shape as in picture. Main things to keep in mind the distance between the lines should be the same. Check out the cross Mark in picture where the distance between the lines are not even. Avoid that mistake and try to do it even. Next try the same three shapes start from the bigger one and complete as much inner smaller shapes as possible. Same thing to keep in mind aboutvthe distance between the outer shape and the inner shape and the edges. Once you are done with all the activity start with the spiral design with double chain stitch. Start with the chain stitch and put a small chain and then outwards.Put a small chain outwards as shown in picture and continue the stitch as double chain stitch without gaps between the two lines. Complete it with the knot as usual.Make sure the stitches are close and in even shapes. Put the loops smaller as it gives a good looking output. Also make sure the cloth does not shrink. You can turn the frame as per your comfort while doing the stitches. For video explaination in Tamil check the below link For video explaination in English check the below link Share:
